College Recruiting Tips
Here are some tips aimed at helping students who are interested in making the most of their pursuit to work with Raymond James. Below you'll find some pointers for taking advantage of our college recruiting efforts.
Where And When Can You Find Us?
- Check our Campus Recruiting Schedule to see if there are any events on your campus.
- Alternatively, check with your Career Services office to see what events we have scheduled at your school.
- If nothing is scheduled at your school, check to see if we are participating in any career fairs or conferences in your area.
- In general, campus visits take place in early fall semester for full-time jobs and again in the spring semester for internship opportunities along with full-time jobs.
If We're Visiting Your Campus
- Make sure to attend our presentations when they are available.
- Presentations are great opportunities to network with Raymond James employees. You may find that they may be working in the position that you are interested in.
- At campus job fairs, there are usually plenty of Raymond James employees in the booth to answer any and all questions you may have. This is also another excellent networking opportunity for you.
- Don't forget to submit your resume online before the campus career fair. Also, take time to find out when we're coming back to campus for interviews.
You Got the Interview. Now what?
- Do your research. Become an expert on Raymond James – know our business units, our community involvement and even current issues facing the company and the financial services industry.
- The Raymond James Corporate website is a great place to start your search for information. Also check out our business unit sites, and business news sites. Be able to speak comfortably about all aspects of the firm.
- Be sure to know why you are interested in us and be able to articulate it.
- Understand your strengths and opportunity areas. Be able to comfortably speak about each.
- Review all of your research materials. Make sure the materials are all up-to-date, especially any information about current issues relating to the firm or the financial services industry.
- There will be a variety of assessments utilized depending on the function for which you are interviewing. Examples include interpersonal testing and cognitive ability testing, among others.
- The day will be full of behavioral-based interviewing with some of the managers. Be able to articulate and demonstrate your strengths and experiences. Take time to think about specific examples of situations you have experienced in order to respond to the question.
- Formal attire is appropriate for your interviews.
- Afterward, you can expect to hear from us within two weeks.
